In September 2006 a new type of NUS card came into effect. This card was called the NUS extra card. The main difference between the old NUS discount card and the NUS extra card is that the card will cost £10 for one college year. Before anyone can say they are being forced into buying a card to vote in the Students’ Union elections you will be able to get a democracy card which is free. The democracy card will allow you to vote in the Students’ Union elections and buy tickets for our parties. This card will not give you any discounts in any shops. If you only use your NUS card for discounts at HMV they will give you a HMV discount card for free with proof of being a student.
